READING OF THE DAY
A reading from the Book of Revelation
Rv 21:9b-14
The angel spoke to me, saying,
“Come here.
I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
He took me in spirit to a great, high mountain
and showed me the holy city Jerusalem
coming down out of heaven from God.
It gleamed with the splendor of God.
Its radiance was like that of a precious stone,
like jasper, clear as crystal.
It had a massive, high wall,
with twelve gates where twelve angels were stationed
and on which names were inscribed,
the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
There were three gates facing east,
three north, three south, and three west.
The wall of the city had twelve courses of stones as its foundation,
on which were inscribed the twelve names
of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 1:45-51
Philip found Nathanael and told him,
“We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law,
and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”
But Nathanael said to him,
“Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,
“Here is a true child of Israel.
There is no duplicity in him.”
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
Nathanael answered him,
“Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Do you believe
because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?
You will see greater things than this.”
And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
you will see heaven opened and the angels of God
ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

God’s Word for Us
Dear People of God,
The Word of God in today’s Gospel recounts the dialogue between Jesus and his disciples, especially with the apostle Nathanael. God desires to show everyone that He is Omnipotent, has all power in heaven and on earth. God is Omniscient, so He sees all things and knows everyone’s heart.
Through dialogue with Nathanael, God shows humanity that His absolute power over mankind, and His love for all human beings.
God Himself came to earth as a man to atone for the sins of mankind, and He poured out His love on each person. Thanks to God’s Omniscence, the apostle Nathanael met Jesus for the first time, heard the Lord say the truth about himself and what happened to him, so he believed and confessed: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Thereby, God showed people that He could do greater things than what Nathanael saw. He said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” For those who have absolute faith in God, He will reveal His strength and power in the soul of that person.
Therefore, the Word of God today invites everyone completely trust in God, because He has all power and is able to do all things in heaven and on earth. Those who want to call on God’s Holy Name should have absolute confidence in His power, because He is the Savior, the Messiah, and He is always present with us right here on earth. God does not want anyone to lose faith in God and then his soul must be separated from Him.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became man. He is the central point to distribute salvation to all people. Therefore, anyone who believes absolutely in God as Savior will receive the gifts according to their faith in God. God always loves all of His children. Thanks to God’s Omniscience, He sees clearly every thought, word, and actions of each person. Therefore, God always waits patiently and opens his arms to welcome, invites His children to give up the path of sin and convert, repent and return to God’s Love.
The Word of God today teaches people:
– Have absolutely faith in the love and power of God, because of His Omniscience, He knows the hearts and desires of each person, and always wants to do good things for us.
– He will bestow blessings and graces upon those who believe, keep faith, and trust completely in His power and mercy according to their faith in God.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
