READING OF THE DAY

A reading from the First Letter of John
1 Jn 3:7-10

Children, let no one deceive you.
The person who acts in righteousness is righteous,
just as he is righteous.
Whoever sins belongs to the Devil,
because the Devil has sinned from the beginning.
Indeed, the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the Devil.
No one who is begotten by God commits sin,
because God’s seed remains in him;
he cannot sin because he is begotten by God.
In this way,
the children of God and the children of the Devil are made plain;
no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God,
nor anyone who does not love his brother.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY

From the Gospel according to John
Jn 1:35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher),
“where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying,
and they stayed with him that day.
It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,
was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him,
“We have found the Messiah,” which is translated Christ.
Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said,
“You are Simon the son of John;
you will be called Cephas,” which is translated Peter.

Jesus, I love You!
Jesus, I love You!

God’s Word for Us

Dear People of God,

In the Word of God today, God wants to teach all mankind how to introduce the Son of God to people in the way Saint John the Baptist introduced Jesus to His disciples saying: This is the true Lamb of God, the true Teacher that mankind should follow.

 God came to earth as a man; He came among mankind and dwelled with man. He always lived close to people, especially sinners, and the weak, lowly, and poor people, He was always beside them and accompanied them.

  The Word of God today reveals: The disciples of Saint John followed the Master,  Jesus Most Holy, and stayed with Him so they could be enlightened, guided, shown, and taught His way of life. As a result, two disciples of Saint John the Baptist were transformed by God, and they resolved to leave everything and follow Him, one of them being Andrew. Then Andrew continued to introduce Jesus to his brother, Peter. Through that image, God invites His children, those who follow God now. When we know and believe that there is a God, we must also know how to share and introduce God to others. We do this by knowing how to love each other, and knowing how to share all that is good with our fellow human beings. God the Father does not want His children to live selfishly, caring only for themselves.  Rather, He invites His children to care for and share the joy and peace that God gives to their fellow human beings.

  Today, God invites all humanity:

– Live with a love that unites you with your fellow human beings.

– Know how to share the love of God and support those who suffer.

– Know how to introduce God to others, because only God can bring peace and happiness to people.

 God the Father does not want a lamb to fall into the sinful passions of the world. Therefore, God invites all humanity to run to God. Those who have been given a sense of faith in a loving God must know how to set out and reach out to their fellow brothers and sisters who do not know God. They can introduce God to them by using their own life as a witness. Only in this way can we please God the Father, and God the Father will love and protect the souls of those children from the captivity of Satan.

Thanks Be to God. Amen.
