GOD’S MESSAGE
(The Word of God For Everyone )
TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
( Lk  9: 11b-17)
06/19/22

READING OF THE DAY

First reading from the Book of Genesis
Gn 14:18-20

In those days, Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine,
and being a priest of God Most High,
he blessed Abram with these words:
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
the creator of heaven and earth;
and blessed be God Most High,
who delivered your foes into your hand."
Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Second reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians
1 Cor 11:23-26

Brothers and sisters:
I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you,
that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over,
took bread, and, after he had given thanks,
broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."
In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup,
you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY

From the Gospel according to Luke
Lk 9:11b-17

Jesus spoke to the crowds about the kingdom of God,
and he healed those who needed to be cured.
As the day was drawing to a close,
the Twelve approached him and said,
"Dismiss the crowd
so that they can go to the surrounding villages and farms
and find lodging and provisions;
for we are in a deserted place here."
He said to them, "Give them some food yourselves."
They replied, "Five loaves and two fish are all we have,
unless we ourselves go and buy food for all these people."
Now the men there numbered about five thousand.
Then he said to his disciples,
"Have them sit down in groups of about fifty."
They did so and made them all sit down.
Then taking the five loaves and the two fish,
and looking up to heaven,
he said the blessing over them, broke them,
and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.
They all ate and were satisfied.
And when the leftover fragments were picked up,
they filled twelve wicker baskets.

TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
( Lk  9: 11b-17)
God's Word for Everyone

Dear People of God,
God always loves and never wants to leave mankind. From the very beginning of creation, God created man in His own image, and He wanted man to be beautiful and brilliant to live next to God the Father of Love.

He always loves and never wants any soul to leave God. Therefore, in His plan of salvation, He showed His love to mankind by sending His own begotten Son to the Earth and becoming a man to be with and accompany mankind.

Before Jesus Christ died, He instituted the Eucharist to show man that He would be with man forever by sacrificing His own life for food to nourish mankind.

When He said: "This is My Body” and “this is My Blood, take and eat, take and drink, and do this in remembrance of Me".

This is the Sacrament of Love that God gives because He desires to be with man, and to remain in man. This is also the sacrifice of giving Thanks to God the Father. When Jesus Christ combined the sacrifice of His own Body with parts of His body (member) which is the Church, In that whole, each person is also offered a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God the Father.

In this sacrifice of thanksgiving, there is the image of Jesus Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit during the consecration. In the Eucharist there is always the fusion and union of the Trinity.

Jesus' miracle of multiplying the loaves, foreshadows the Eucharist. It is He who is the bread that will be broken and given to many, so that anyone who eats His Body and drinks His Blood will become one with Him and has eternal life.

The Body and Blood of the Lord are the spiritual food, It is the " spiritual food" to nourish the human’s soul every day.

But God makes known that He only dwells in pure hearts. Therefore, when receiving the Body and Blood of the Lord, each person must have a holy, clean, and pure heart to be worthy of the Lord's dwelling inside man’s heart.

Saint Paul, enlightened by the Spirit of the Holy Spirit, said that: when anyone eats the Body of Jesus and drinks the Blood of Jesus Christ but cannot distinguish it as His Body, they are drinking the cup of 'punishment'. This is also a warning for everyone when one receives the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, today, God invites everyone, when coming to the Eucharist, which is the Sacrament of Love, to cleanse their hearts so that they can receive God Himself into their hearts and stay with Him. When someone has God in them, then that person will be at peace, happiness, and will be protected by God from the power of evil spirits and stay away from sin.

Today's Word of God calls all His children: to return to God the Father and gather into one single, holy Church, that is the Catholic Church, to receive the very Love of God into the soul of each person. God has always loved and longed to be near man.

Thanks be to God. Amen.

God bless you and peace be with you!
