THURSDAY OF THE TWENTY-NINTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME – Lk 12, 49-53 – God’s Word for Us

Reading of the Day Eph 3: 14-21

A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
EPH 3:14-21

Brothers and sisters:
I kneel before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory
to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self,
and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
that you, rooted and grounded in love,
may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones
what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge,
so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine,
by the power at work within us,
to him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus
to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY Lk 12: 49-53

From the Gospel according to Luke
LK 12:49-53

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

The Gospel of the Lord: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

The Word of God for Us

Dear People of God,

In today’s Word of God, God the Father declares to humanity that He came to bring peace and happiness to mankind in the Kingdom of Heaven, not to bring peace and happiness that belongs to the world.

As humans live on this earth, we are fighting a spiritual battle between our souls and bodies with Satan.

God the Father said that while Satan is still rampant in this world, they will find every way to attack and pull humans away from the love and mercy of God the Father.

Satan is the one who always causes suffering, death, sin, hatred, jealousy, division, and envy.
Therefore, when the Holy Spirit of God the Father comes to lead the human souls away from the sinful passion of the world, Satan will find every way to cause division between each other.

Satan is invisible, so he will borrow the bodies and souls of those who oppose God the Father to be jealous, envious, hateful, and cause separation of the souls of those who live pleasing to God the Father.

God the Father wants to call on all His children to have the courage to live according to His teachings. To abandon all that is sins, hatred, division, selfishness, greed, and worldly evil right here on earth, and to walk in the light and grace of God the Father.

He does not want His children to be deceived by Satan’s temptations into believing that God came to this world to cause division, to cause suffering, to cause death.

It is not so! God is a God of love and mercy.
He came to this world to save the souls that He created – who were good from the beginning – from the captivity of Satan due to sin and worldly passions.

God the Father wants to remind His children to trust in the Supreme God the Father.
He is loving and merciful.

He did not come to cause death, did not come to call people to hate, division, resentment, and enmity among each other.

He did not come to bring eternal death to mankind, but He came to separate and save mankind from all sins, all impurity, from the darkness that Satan is imprisoning, to bring these souls back to God the Father.

Therefore, have faith in God the Father’s love and mercy.

Listen to the teachings of God the Father, and courageously follow His light.
Eliminate worldly sins in this world, to enjoy the light of love and mercy of God the Father.
From there, we will live in peace and eternal happiness in His grace when He calls us out of this world.

But on the condition that we must abandon all things that belong to sin brought by Satan, in order to walk in the light of God the Father’s Words.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
